Inaugural Build Up our Food Bank event

 
For our first ever Rotary Club of Winnemucca "Build Up our Food Bank" event, we had 7 teams participate in creating some amazing sculptures to give our local Food Bank a boost.  Beginning Friday, October 9th, teams assembled their creations, then on Saturday our esteemed panel of judges decided on winners in the categories shown below.  The public was invited to vote with a dollar per vote on Saturday at the Exhibit Hall, and during the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce's Hops & Grapes gathering where the winners were announced.  On Sunday, local Boy Scout Troop 223 helped Rotarians and staff from the Winnemucca Food Bank fill their van and pickup with food used in the sculptures.  We were able to donate 3,710 pounds and $381 to our local Food Bank in preparation for the upcoming holiday season!!!  We thank all the businesses and volunteers who worked hard to make this event possible, especially Rotarians Amy Edwards, who coordinated the event, and Rhonda Coleman, who worked hard to encourage teams to participate and was involved in 3 teams herself!  We hope for an even larger community involvement next time!  Checkout these pictures from the event:
