The Rotary Club of Winnemucca held four Vision Screenings throughout the school year to help identify elementary age students in need of vision care.  The most recent screening was held at Sonoma Elementary School where thirty-one students were seen and twenty-one potential problems were identified.  Rotary Club members with training and assistance from Dr. Cody Bengoa of Northern Nevada Eye Care identified students with a variety of visual problems, including high amounts of astigmatism, farsightedness, color vision deficiency, focusing, tracking, depth perception and visual motor problems. Each student's results were sent to their teachers to help aid them in their classrooms, and those who did not pass the screening were recommended comprehensive vision examinations.  Bob Himmelreich from the Winnemucca Host Lions Club was also on hand to assist students in need with obtaining glasses.
