On Nov. 19, 2015, the Rotary Club of Winnemucca had the unique opportunity to hear a presentation by world-leading humanitarian Deepa Willingham.  Deepa was born and brought up in Calcutta, India where she obtained her primary and secondary education under the stewardship of Mother Teresa.  Currently, she works to build schools to educate girls that would otherwise be married in early childhood, sent to work, or sold for sex trade.  Mrs. Willingham is the winner of many humanitarian awards.  She gave an inspirational lecture to our group about her charitable organization PACE (Promise of Assurance of Children Everywhere) Universal.  For more information about her cause, and to consider sponsoring a child, please go to www.paceuniversal.com.
Deepa's presentation was done through interactive video at our Great Basin College of Winnemucca.  We'd like to thank GBC for making the lecture available to us, as well as the Rotary Club of Elko for coordinating this event, especially current President Lucy Tomera-Miller and our Assistant District Governor Anita Franzoia.

Also, to support local and global projects that have significant positive impacts in our communities, please consider a donation to The Rotary Foundation's Annual Fund SHARE program:  https://www.rotary.org/en/give
Following the presentation by Deepa, our members met for a delicious dinner at the Winnemucca Inn, where Rotarians Mark and Jo Leiser hand delivered boxes of chocolates and toffees from their store in Fallon: Finest Confections.  Thanks to Mark and Jo's generosity and our club's Foundation Chair JoAnn Casalez's auctioneering skills, 3 of our members purchased the candy and sent donations totalling $4,300 to The Rotary Foundation!
